Cookies Policy

Last Updated: March 9, 2026

At Novus Studio, we believe in privacy by design. Because our AI engine runs primarily in your browser (client-side), we use significantly fewer cookies than traditional cloud-based editors. This policy explains exactly what we track and why.

Essential & Functional

Necessary for the site to function, such as remembering your preferences or login state.

Analytics & Performance

Anonymous data that helps us understand which features (like Magic Eraser) are used most.

1. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They act as a memory for the website, allowing it to recognize you and remember your preferences (like your language settings or acceptance of this policy).

2. How We Use Cookies

We categorize our cookies into the following purposes:

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These are essential for you to browse the website and use its features. Without these, services like the AI editor interface cannot function.

  • novus-cookie-consent: Stores your agreement to this policy.
  • __session: Maintains your secure session state.

Performance & Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous information about how visitors use our site. This helps us improve the studio experience. We do not upload your images to Google Analytics.

  • _ga: Distinguishes unique users (anonymized).
  • _ga_CONTAINER_ID: Persists session state for analytics.

3. Your Choices

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. You can exercise your cookie rights by setting your preferences in the Cookie Consent banner or by changing your browser settings.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the AI editor from functioning correctly.

4. Local Storage vs. Cookies

Novus Studio is a unique "Local-First" application. When you upload an image to edit, it is processed via WebAssembly in your browser's memory. We may use Local Storage (not a cookie, but similar) to temporarily save your work-in-progress if you refresh the page. This data stays on your machine and is never sent to our servers.
